Date based Scheduling for Programs
Current Issue: Homeworks currently schedules fertilizer applications based on a set number of days between services. This does not work well for lawn care programs because applications need to be performed during specific seasonal windows, not simply a certain number of days after the previous application. Requested Feature: Allow each application within a fertilizer program to have a specific date range instead of a fixed number of days between applications. For example, a six-step fertilizer program could be scheduled as follows: Application 1: March 1 – April 15 Application 2: April 16 – May 31 Application 3: June 1 – July 15 Application 4: July 16 – August 31 Application 5: September 1 – October 15 Application 6: October 16 – November 30 These date ranges should repeat annually. Additional Functionality: When a new customer signs up halfway through the season, HomeWorks should automatically identify the current application window and schedule that application as their first service. Previous application windows should be skipped rather than generating overdue jobs or placing missed applications on the waiting list. Why This Matters: Fertilizer applications are seasonal and depend on weather conditions, turf growth, and the time of year. Using fixed intervals causes scheduling problems, especially when customers enroll midseason or weather delays previous applications. Date-based scheduling would allow us to maintain consistent seasonal treatment windows, eliminate unnecessary manual adjustments, and manage recurring fertilizer programs more efficiently.
